Have your perfect autumn wedding in a quintessentially British manor house

When you pause to consider the benefits of an autumn marriage, it’s perhaps surprising that more couples don’t tie the knot during the season.

After all, many find the cooler weather more comfortable than the warmest months, which tend to be the peak time of year for UK weddings. And, while you may dream of a gloriously warm wedding, the reality is that, in the UK, this can never be guaranteed, whatever the time of year. But in the autumn, when you won’t necessarily expect fabulous weather, if you do get a gorgeously sunny, crisp wedding day, you’ll be doubly pleased.

You could also find that your suppliers and venue of choice have greater availability, plus you may be able to secure an excellent deal from the various people you’ll need to deal with outside of high season. Not only that but, with summer holidays fading from memory and everyone back at work, your guests are likely to have better availability, meaning you can share your big day with those who you really want to be there.

What’s more, they may well be pleased to have something to look forward to after summer, plus you won’t be up against ‘wedding fatigue’ if all your friends seem to be getting married at the same time. Your occasion will stand out.

As if all that wasn’t enough, the vibrant foliage will provide a gorgeous backdrop to your wedding photos, as will the autumnal sunsets. And although the nights may be drawing in, there are still enough hours of daylight to get some great pictures.

Your whole occasion will have a warm, cosy feel, and there are so many textures, colours and materials to work with at this time of year to give your occasion on-point styling.

Sensational food ideas mean you’re not limited to standard summer fare. Pumpkin, butternut squash, apples and root veg are all in season. So think warm, comforting dishes from creamy soups to stuffed vegetables or pies and slow-roasted meats. Hearty desserts will also be welcome.

Meanwhile, there are plenty of drink options which will go down really well, from apple cider to making an early start on the mulled wine. And if you’re after the novelty effect, think in terms of toffee apples, pork pies, wood-fired pizzas or a buffet based around a cheese board.

Autumn weddings at Brinsop Court

Brinsop Court is a luxury wedding venue in Herefordshire, complete with a fourteenth-century moated manor house, a beautiful barn plus a working farm. It was named as a Top 100 venue in the world by Condé Nast and Brides magazine.

We stand ready to welcome you for your gorgeous late-in-the-year celebration, either from September 2026 onwards or even this autumn– talk to us about late availability. Our venue is exceptionally warm and cosy at this time of year, with log fires throughout the Grade I medieval manor house, welcoming lighting and a distinctly autumnal feel. What’s more, the leaves of the surrounding woodland are ablaze with colour, providing the perfect natural background for the photos of your big day as you make lifelong memories. Inside, locations for your ceremony include our splendid Elizabethan Library and magnificent Banqueting Hall.

What’s more, of course, you’ll receive the same warm, friendly welcome from our professional staff team that we extend to guests at all times of year.

In all, our estate encompasses 800 acres, and you and your guests get exclusive use of our picturesque grounds and buildings, whether you go for a one or two-day celebration.

The farm area, including a 14-acre orchard, is the perfect place for an afternoon stroll, plus there are two cosy cottages where you can spend the night before your marriage – or extend your stay to relax afterwards and prolong the festivities. (After all, you’re unlikely to be keen to leave Brinsop Court!) Ivy Cottage dates back to the 1700s and was previously the gamekeeper’s home, while Wood Cottage offers amazing views over the Herefordshire hills and has been lovingly renovated to create the perfect retreat.

Meanwhile, our Knot Barn has views over the countryside which you can take in via floor-to-ceiling windows to give an al fresco feel despite the late point in the year. The barn is big enough for larger gatherings, but if your wedding is a smaller affair, we can section off areas to maintain a more intimate feel. Plus we can recommend local professionals if you’re keen to decorate the place in keeping with the season.

Discuss food and drink options for autumn with our expert team – we’re hot on seasonal ingredients and produce. And we work hard to be as flexible as possible with this side of things, with plenty of choice when it comes to canapés, drinks, menus for the perfect wedding breakfast and creative evening reception dishes.

That flexibility extends to the various wedding packages we offer couples for their celebration.
