Q&A with the couple
When and how did you first meet?
We met on Tinder. Our first date was at a Bar in Birmingham, where we stood at different entrances for a long time after the time we were supposed to meet. Fortunately we held on until we realised.
How long did it take you to plan your Wedding?
First thing we did was book the venue, then it was an 18-month build up to the big day. It was a busy first couple of months getting the main bits booked in, then fairly relaxed until the few weeks before the date when all the little bits needed sorted.
Who popped the big question/ how did they propose?
Sean popped the question when we were staying at a small cottage in the Lake District. He had made a photo book of all our ‘firsts’, which led up to him getting down on one knee. The song that was on when he proposed was the one I walked down the aisle to.
What was your favourite part about your big day?
The Ceremony itself in the Banqueting Hall was lovely with the sun streaming through the Windows. We’d hoped (best case scenario) to have the post Ceremony drinks on the Wordsworth Lawn surrounded by swans on the moat. Being early April, we thought this highly unlikely, but we were in luck! A beautiful few hours at the key time of the day meant it was perfect for Pimms on the lawn. Another highlight was the band blasting indie tunes into the night.
What would you do differently about your Wedding?
We’d potentially have moved the Ceremony time slightly earlier (we had a 2pm start) in order to make the day last longer. We would also recommend getting the photographer and videographer to stay later in the night as dance floor antics peak later on!
Why did you pick Brinsop for your big day?
It was the first place we looked around and we knew straight away! Anywhere else we looked at was always being compared to Brinsop. We loved the character and uniqueness of the house and how we could use different parts of the venue of the different elements of the day.
Ceremony
Helen and Sean got Married in the Banqueting Hall. With a little over 100 guests, this space was perfect. The aisles were lined with small bouquets created by the incredible May Rose Florals. The aisle bouquets matched Helen’s bridal flowers which added a perfect sense of consistency, sticking to the same colour themes throughout.
Drinks Reception
Helen and Sean were blessed with glorious April sun and decided to go for their top of option of having their Drinks Reception on Wordsworth Lawn. Pimms was served from large Kilners and bottled beers were available, chilled over ice, throughout. They also had the option for guests to go inside and stay in the shade, benefiting from The Games Room Bars Ping-Pong table and sofas.
Wedding Breakfast
Their Wedding Breakfast included comical speeches, a selection of Wines and floral arrangements on the top table. They also opted for a ‘traditional’ Top-Table by the large Windows within the Knot and their guests on round tables throughout the whole Barn.
The Party
They started by cutting their cake, which was decorated with red hearts and made by their friend. Their first dance got everyone on the dance floor and their Evening food went down a treat. To finish off the night Helen and Sean had a midnight photoshoot where they celebrated with champagne!
