Ivy Cottage, formerly the estate's gamekeeper's cottage is set back slightly and to the right of the long drive onto the estate and this week we wanted to showcase all the little romantic details in it which make it perfect for honeymooners or even mini-mooners!

lavender in the gardens at brinsopAs you walk through the tiny gate and up the path, there are herb beds on either side of the path and at this time of year the lavender smells glorious as you brush past it. There is lots of mint for pimms too!

As you cross the threshold through the stable doors and into the stylish country kitchen with pastel colours and a cream two oven Aga, the sense that you get is one of privacy and seclusion. Cool in the summer, but toasty warm in the winter the kitchen is big enough for meals a deux! Peeking into the cupboards there are mugs with hearts on them and a pretty tea set for romantic breakfasts in bed.

The lounge has two big sofas for cuddling up in front of the TV and woodburner, with a patio door that opens onto the garden in the summer. On the wall is a heart of twigs for decoration.

The garden is very secluded and the wide open Herefordshire skies to the west showcase wonderful sunsets. It is easy to imagine sipping champagne in the hot tub or lounging on the terrace under an incredibly dark and starry sky. There is a fire pit outside too so you can stay outside for longer once the air begins to cool at sunset.

There is a downstairs shower room, but upstairs the bathroom was definitely designed for two! Aside from the "his and hers" basins and the enormous double shower, the bath takes pride of place in the centre of the room. Double ended and free standing it is shouting out to be shared. Bathing under the glorious chandelier in a bath filled with bubbles is a wonderful way to spend time on your honeymoon. Did I mention there is a TV in the bathroom too! The height of decadence!

What our guests love most about the cottage though is its authenticity. The beams and the uneven floors and give it that rustic feel whilst the fittings are 21st century! The whole cottage is deceptively spacious, and spending your first week or two there as a married couple will be very special.
