New Year’s Resolution Ideas
Happy New Year and hello to 2014!
New Year resolutions can be incredibly predictable, don’t you think? Lose weight, join a gym, give up something you like (smoking, chocolate etc., ) and many of these are to do with giving up bad habits and getting healthier!
We’ve had a think about how Brinsop Court can inspire us in 2014 with some alternative resolutions!
Learn a party trick – always useful to have a party trick or two up your sleeve if you are planning to go to a party or hold one yourself and Brinsop Court is a great house for a party! For a great selection, try these ones.
Have your photo taken in full mediaeval costume in an appropriate setting - our Banqueting Hall can provide that setting! Or maybe your resolution could be to have a great set of photos taken by a local photographer with the backdrops that we can provide!
Break a record – this doesn’t have to sporty or even clever it just has to be something you love doing and are happy to do it for ages and ages, or really quickly! Recently in Herefordshire, the local BBC radio had people making bunting and together miles and miles of bunting was made which beat a world record!!
Get closer to your friends - what better way could there be than spending a mid week or weekend break with your nearest and dearest friends. If a group of you come to Brinsop and break down the price per person we are brilliant value for luxury self catering holidays.
Learn a new skill – cooking on an AGA might be something you learn or fishing in the moat, or playing tennis or ping pong or darts! Or you can choose a course run by Creative Breaks and stay here. Their courses range from basket weaving to woodworking and lots more.
Do something nice for someone – bring them here for a luxury self catering holiday – what more can I say!
Whatever resolutions you have made, good luck with them. I found this great quote to share.
“I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You're doing things you've never done before, and more importantly, you're Doing Something. So that's my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself. Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody's ever made before. Don't freeze, don't stop, don't worry that it isn't good enough, or it isn't perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life. Whatever it is you're scared of doing, Do it. Make your mistakes, next year and forever.” ― Neil Gaiman
See you soon hopefully!
