Planning your big dayPosted on Tue 25 Nov, 2014, by Amanda Ingham

Where to hold your wedding day is one of the most important decisions for an engaged bride and groom. There are lots of things to keep in mind before committing yourselves.  Crucially budget and with number of guests you want to celebrate with are probably where you start.

Venues generally have a maximum number of guests and once you know what your own maximums are you can start to match one with the other!  For the record, Brinsop Court Manor House sleeps up to 34 if you don’t mind sharing rooms and we can seat up to 70 in the Banqueting Hall. We are currently not open to the idea of a marquee here, because the point of getting married at Brinsop Court Manor House is to enjoy the house and the history and ambiance of the building. If budget is really tight, then do consider a mid week wedding because it can cut down the venue hire costs dramatically. Oh and you can now use the courtyard for parts of your ceremony too!

Finding a good caterer is critical. Using a caterer who knows Brinsop Court Manor House and has catered here for weddings before, will take a big worry away as they will be familiar with the equipment we have in the kitchens and know how best to deliver your vision.  We have three preferred caterers and full details are on our dedicated wedding website.  Deciding on the drinks for your big day gives a wonderful excuse to try out all sorts and of course at Brinsop Court we aren’t prescriptive about which wines or champagnes you want - you get to choose and we don’t even ask for a corkage fee!

Music for the bridal entrance is so personal and choosing it together can be fun or fraught depending on your tastes! Entertainment for the evening is another important decision - if your wedding is themed, then the choice of music may be more obvious. We are happy for couples to have a live band set up in the Games Room for the dancing after the wedding meal and we also have ipod docking stations and speakers set up so your own choice of music can be played at different times and in different parts of the house. You may want to hire a DJ and have a disco, or a singer. And we also have contacts with a harpist if that takes your fancy.

A lasting record and of course great quality photographs that capture the spirit of your wedding are critical. If you like to bring your chosen photographer here to show them around and discuss which backdrops you want, just give us a call and we’ll try and find a mutually convenient date and time for you.

If you are getting married here, then one cost you don’t have to budget for is transport, which can save a substantial sum!

And then there are the flowers to think about, the dress and the men’s suits, the bridesmaids, flower girls and page boys, the favours, the entertainment and so on and so on. BUT, most important before you sort anything else is of course the venue.

Book a visit to come and see Brinsop Court Manor House as soon as you can, we’d love to show you around.  Ring Lorina or Ali on 01432 509925 to book your personal tour today.
