The Romantic Winter Wedding of Emma and William Posted on 15th November 2018

As we now start to welcome back those winter days, we thought we would take a little trip down memory lane to January where we celebrated magical winter wedding of Emma and William.

The first weekend in January always still feels that little bit festive, and we simply love it.

Everything about Emma and William’s special day just oozed wintery romance. The moment you stepped out of the cold and into Brinsop, you were welcomed by roaring fires and that cosy inviting aroma.

Emma and William said ‘I do’ in an intimate and romantic ceremony with their family and friends in our elegant Queen Anne Dining Room with a string quartet playing a stunning selection of music.

Emma wore a gorgeous floor length dress with her Bridesmaids in navy, much like William and the Ushers who wore tailored Navy suits with a red rose button hole.

The bouquets were just the most perfect blend of winter and bridal; red roses, winter berries, seasonal ferns and thistles created by Beehive. Their Wedding Breakfast was served in our magnificent Banqueting Hall, decorated with candles and red roses and seasonal thistles. So charming and full of love.

Wedding Breakfast Location: The Banqueting Hall

The Florals: Provided by the wonderful Hibiscus Room, Hereford (now known as Beehive Florist). Red roses, seasonal ferns and thistle and berries made a wonderful, wintery selection of bouquets and decorative arrangements.

The Table Designs: The Hibiscus Room, Hereford dressed the tables with flowers and hurricane jars with tea lights and candles. Tables were dressed with accessories for photographs and activities .

The Caterers: A To Zest

The Menu: The menu included seared scallop, Herefordshire beef fillet with wonderful seasonal root vegetables and a deliciously rich chocolate tart.

The Photographer: Lucy Greenhill, who was not only a fantastic photographer but proved absolutely key to the organisation of the day. Lucy was a real highlight, she went above and beyond her role as a photographer to help with all sorts of wedding tasks and most importantly, integrated and became a wedding guest who was very well liked!

The Cake: Provided by Sharon McGowan, a local Herefordshire cake specialist. The cake consisted of three tiers (white chocolate and raspberry, lemon drizzle and carrot cake) covered in a semi naked white chocolate icing. The cake was absolutely beautiful and tasted as good as it looked, the cake received many compliments – and disappeared very quickly!

The Dress: A Ronald Joyce dress from Satin and Silk in Hereford. I chose a simple, form fitting dress with a dramatic train. The service from Satin and Silk was wonderful, friendly and a real joy. Dress fittings were friendly, fun and never rushed.

The Suits: Suits and shirts were bespoke, designed and tailored by Cairan Conlon.

Hair and Makeup: Hillary Read

Entertainment: Luke Delaney played a great range of music, perfect for our tastes and created a great atmosphere. An artist drew the guests, which was a hugely popular feature and provided everyone with a beautiful keepsake from the day. We included a string quartet to play a mix of classical and contemporary music, the house was the perfect venue and the music set a beautiful tone and proved extremely popular. I highly recommend Unity String Quartet.

Wedding Favours: The Bridal Party were gifted shoes and accessories while the Groom’s party received cufflinks and engraved flasks.

Where did you get engaged? We got engaged shortly before the birth of our daughter India. William proposed with a beautiful diamond ring at our new home, it was perfect.

How and why did you choose Brinsop Court? We visited several venues, but Brinsop Court immediately felt right. The team were so welcoming and friendly, and the communication so good that we could not choose anywhere else. The dreamy rural setting and elegant atmosphere in the house creates a perfect country wedding. The cottage was beautiful, and the team added so many beautiful finishing touches and gifts for ourselves and our guests that the weekend felt truly 5*.

How long did it take to plan the wedding? 12 months.

Was there inspiration or theme for your wedding? We loved the idea of a winter wedding as Brinsop boosts huge fireplaces and such spectacular grounds. We decided on a colour scheme of navy, burgundy and gold which complimented the theme beautifully. Whiskey by the fire, Thistles and red roses against the backdrop of Brinsop and the warmth of the house created the perfect cosy, family environment.

What was the favourite part of your day? Seeing William in his suit, waiting for me at the ceremony. We had been looking forward to getting married for so long that at that moment, nerves and planning fell away and I could enjoy the ceremony. We laughed and smiled throughout the ceremony, creating amazing photographs. I held our daughter as we walked down the aisle to a string quartet, she danced and giggled and made us all laugh and cry.

Did everything go to plan? Yes, the Team at Brinsop looked after every detail big and small. I cannot praise Daisy and the team enough, from the moment we chose Brinsop Court to the moment we said goodbye after big day they took care of us and our guests. The service and surroundings really are exceptional and comparable to a stay at a luxury hotel.

What advice would you give to anyone planning their big day? Relax and think of the things that will make you and your guests smile, small details like activities and selfie props and larger atmospheric things such as music can have such a big impact. Remember that everyone is there to have fun and celebrate you and your family, make sure you enjoy it.

Where did you spend your honeymoon? We did not go on a honeymoon, instead we bought our first home which was the perfect start to our marriage.
