We love a good walk and walking festivals are a wonderful way to enjoy a holiday, particularly when the place you are staying is in easy reach of the walks.  There are several festivals within a reasonable distance of Brinsop Court Manor House and we do have some self catering availability, particularly mid week for visitors who want to take advantages of the walking festivals.

Luckily the local festivals are spread through the year so get your diary out and start planning which one to join in on.

1 to 10 March 2014

Crickhowell’s Walking Festival takes place around the town which is in the eastern part of the Brecon Beacons and is about an hour away from the manor house by car, which may be a tad too far for some. We’ve included it in this round up though because the drive there is through wonderful scenery and the views of the Black Mountains are fantastic. This year’s keynote speaker is the Arctic and Antarctic explorer, Pen Hadow.

24 May to 1 June 2014

The Malvern Hills Walking Festival is a nine day festival coinciding with the Hay literary Festival, so if you stayed at Brinsop Court you could kill two birds with one stone! You will have to be quick to book though as we already have some bookings in place for that period.  The festival has some really challenging walks – 31 miles in one day for example - as well as a variety of interesting walks for the less fit amongst you! From Brinsop Court to Great Malvern will take around forty five minutes by car.

5 to 8 June 2014

Head due north for an hour and you get to Church Stretton where their 12th walking festival is based in the historic market town.  Church Stretton and the surrounding area is also one of Britain’s first Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and there are few quieter places to be on a summer's day than the Long Mynd and the Stretton Hills.

10 to 12 June 2014

Not quite as far but in the same direction is Bishop's Castle. This long established Festival is rated highly by its regular walkers. There is a wide variety of walks on offer from 5 miles up to 12 miles.

14 to 22 June 2014

The Herefordshire Walking Festival is run by volunteers and there will be an opportunity to walk in the footsteps of King Offa and King Ethelbert, sample the Bounty of Three Counties, head along the banks of Bodenham Lake and the River Lugg observing the bird life and fauna, walk the nine miles of The Malvern Hills End-to-End or spend an evening in the stunning scenery of Paradise Valley. Got to be a must do surely!

If you are interested in any of these June festivals, then you will only be able to stay mid week at Brinsop Court, we are full during the June weekends. This is a great deal as you effectively get four nights for the price of three. Or if you like to book a bit further ahead, there are two more festivals in in Herefordshire, both in September.

18 to 21 September 2014

Kington is a small local town and this year will be their third Walking Festival. Nestled below Hergest Ridge, this historic drovers’ town is at the heart of the Welsh Marches - a perfect destination for all who love the great outdoors and its only half an hour away from Brinsop Court.

26 to 28 September 2014

The Ross-on-Wye Walking Festival programme includes 15 glorious walks providing something to suit all abilities and interests. There are two long distance walks that pass through the town; the Wye Valley Walk and the Herefordshire Trail and Ross is about 40 minutes drive from Brinsop Court.

October 2014

Its a long way ahead to the Hay Walking Festival and the Monmouthshire Walking Festival, but some people I know like to plan in advance and there is only one weekend still available here at Brinsop Court!
