We are sure this warmer weather is leaving you thirsty for something delicious to drink, and this month we have some great inspiration for you. Your reception drinks set the tone for the rest of the wedding breakfast and we have partnered up with the fantastic teams at artisan drinks producer British Cassis and English wine growers Castlebrook to find out what’s on trend for 2015.

Gone are the days when a glass of fizz will do, the trend in 2015 is for beautiful cocktails made with artisan spirits and botanicals, and we are not talking the sort that you pop an umbrella on! The new trend is towards skinny and minnie. Tiny drinks in beautiful glasses that don’t leave Aunty Nora intoxicated and taking to the dance floor for the first time in 50 years!

It is wonderful that there is a cocktail for every season and to suit every theme, from dark and strong to light and sparkly!  We asked Briony Davies from British Cassis to suggest a couple of her favourite cocktails from their latest skinny and minnie collection and we added in some beautifully sparkling Castlebrook wine rather than french fizz for a truly English affair.

Royale Blush

Castle Brook Sparkling Wine

50ml British Mure

Whole Blackberries

Pour British Mure, top up with Sparkling Wine, garnish with Blackberries

The second cocktail pear & sage is slightly more robust and would suit those with a more avant garde approach, totally indulgent!

Pear & Sage Spritz

50ml British Poire

50ml Gin

Tonic water

Fresh sage leaves

½ tsp fresh Vanilla

Shake British Poire, Gin and Vanilla, pour, top up with tonic, garnish with sage!

In August our followers on Facebook can win a pack of British Cassis cocktail mixers along with a bottle of Castlebrook English sparkling wine to make their own delicious cocktails. To enter click here.
