Wedding Make Up Tips
At Brinsop Court we want to make sure that your special day is the best that it could possibly be. That’s why we have put together 10 of our top makeup tips for summer brides, to help your makeup look as perfect as possible, without any hassle or problems on the day!
One of the most important things to remember at a wedding, or any event with cameras, is to not wear anything with SPF in. SPF, no matter what the strength, contains pure white pigments that react when a camera flash goes off. This will leave you with white patches on your face in the photo, which is obviously not something that you want!
Primed & Ready To Go
Using primers is an essential step, especially on your summer wedding day. They will help to ensure that your makeup stays in place all day by creating a base that makeup can cling onto. Use primers on both your face and eyelids.
Use The Matte
Try to use products (skincare and makeup) that are either matte or have little oil/shimmer in them. Cameras notoriously make things appear shinier than they actually are, so being careful about what dewy and oily products you apply will help to stop your skin appearing greasy. This applies to highlighters, bronzers and anything with oil in.
People notoriously get emotional at weddings, especially when you are the one getting married! Help to stop a makeup disaster by using waterproof eye makeup, most importantly a waterproof mascara.
Cameras make your face appear flatter and less sculpted in photo, so to help combat this you should contour your face. This also applies to your lipstick, because even though nude or pale lipsticks look lovely in summer, the reality of it is that your lips may appear flatter in photos. That’s why it’s a good idea to wear a shade slightly darker than you usually would.
Say Bye To High Def
High definition makeup, better known as HD makeup, is a formula that was developed to help your skin appear flawless by diffusing light, however this only works when used on film. Many people seem to believe that HD makeup works in regular photos, but this isn’t true. If you were to wear it when having your photo taken, not when being recorded on film, your face will appear white, much like wearing products with SPF will.
Keep It Light
On a hot summer day you don’t want to be wearing lots of makeup, otherwise it will end up looking cakey and messy very quickly. Try to wear small amounts of makeup, using products that let your skin breathe, but if you need a little more coverage apply it in light layers to reduce the cakey look.
To ensure that your lipstick stays in place for longer and to stop bleeding, you should start off by applying lip liner. Follow up with your lipstick, blot it with some tissue and then, with the tissue still held to your lips, lightly apply some loose powder over the top. Using the powder will set the lipstick in place as it does with foundation. To finish it off, apply another layer of lipstick and blot with tissue if necessary. If you are also wearing lip gloss, apply it now.
