Why Brinsop Court is so much more than “just” a wedding venue

Yes, Brinsop Court is an award-winning wedding venue. Yes, it does weddings beautifully. Yes, it can host up to 250 guests without breaking a sweat.

But to call Brinsop Court “just a wedding venue” is a bit like calling a swan a duck. Technically related… but wildly underselling it.

Set within 800 acres of Herefordshire countryside and centred around a fourteenth-century medieval manor house, Brinsop Court is a place where lots of excellent things happen — not just people saying “I do”.

Not getting married? Still very welcome.

Brinsop is an elegant, flexible backdrop for all kinds of eventscorporate, celebratory, charitable and everything in between.

Hosting a small seminar for 10 people? A big conference for 100 delegates where everything needs to run like clockwork? A brainstorming session where nobody wants to sit in a windowless hotel meeting room? We’ve got you.

The manor house may be medieval, but the facilities are thoroughly modern. Expect LCD projector and screen, PA system, flip charts, Wi-Fi, plus fresh fruit, mineral water, tea and coffee to keep brains switched on. Need catering? Of course you do — and yes, we’ll sort that too.

Think productive meetings… but with far better views.

Enter: the Knot Barn (main character energy)

If Brinsop Court has a crown jewel, it’s the Knot Barn — and it knows it.

This stunning oak barn seats 180 guests (or 250 standing) and was completed in 2020 with funding from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. It features floor-to-ceiling windows across the entire front, serving uninterrupted views of landscaped gardens and rolling countryside.

In short: it feels alfresco all year round, without the weather-related stress.

It’s also incredibly versatile. Smaller group? We can section areas off for a more intimate feel. Bigger event? Let it breathe. There’s a timber boardwalk connecting the barn to the manor house, a well-stocked bar open until midnight, space for a live band or DJ… and yes, even a pizza oven. Because balance is important.

Not just business — let’s talk celebrations

Brinsop Court is equally brilliant for events that don’t involve spreadsheets.

Birthday parties, engagement celebrations, baby showers, wellness retreats, yoga weekends, charity fundraisers — the estate adapts beautifully to whatever you have in mind. The setting is calm, private and restorative, making it ideal for wellness-focused events or elegant fundraising dinners that deserve something special.

This is the kind of place where people instantly relax — which, let’s be honest, is half the battle.

A closer look at the manor house (it’s a stunner)

The Grade I-listed manor house dates back to the early 1300s and is exactly as impressive as you’d hope — grand fireplaces, sweeping staircases, mullioned windows and soaring ceilings included.

Current owners Pat and Martin have lovingly restored the house, blending original features with colour, texture and pattern across its four wings. It’s undeniably grand, but also warm, welcoming and surprisingly homely. No echoey stateliness here.

Accommodation is plentiful and full of character:

Bailey Wing: marble fireplaces, timber beams and four elegant bedrooms

Dansey Wing: a self-contained suite sleeping nine with its own front door

Tirrells Wing: home to the Gothic Suite with exposed stone walls and stunning views

Astley Wing and Cricketers’ Corridor: more beautiful spaces to explore

In total, there are 18 individually styled bedrooms, all bookable as part of your event. Prefer something different? Guests can stay in one of two luxury cottages or opt for year-round glamping — complete with proper beds, Egyptian cotton bedding, heaters and lighting. Camping, but make it comfortable.

800 acres of “go and clear your head”

When you need a break from your event, Brinsop’s working farm and private estate offer space to wander without bumping into anyone else — there are no public footpaths here.

Explore woodland, crop fields and the perry pear orchard. Spot lambs, ponies, tractors and the occasional combine harvester going about its business. Follow marked trails and enjoy the luxury of actual peace and quiet.

There’s fishing too — carp and trout in the manor house moat, or a more challenging experience at Hartlands Pool. Forgot your rod? No problem. We can lend you one.
