The Founders

Born and bred amongst Herefordshire farming lands, founders Pat and Martin, together with a keen eye for restoration and interior design, saw the untapped potential in Brinsop and transformed it into an award-winning venue.

Since starting the business from scratch, a whole lot of love and care has been poured into the estate. The journey has been incredibly gratifying and the outcome magnificent. Pat and Martin, along with the rest of our estate team, would be delighted to welcome you to Brinsop.

Exclusively Yours

When staying at Brinsop, you have the whole house and grounds to yourself. Whether you’re celebrating a breath-taking wedding, hosting a corporate retreat or simply relaxing during a holiday stay, you’ll feel at home.

Our 5* accommodation includes 18 bedrooms and countless function rooms which can be used however you decide. The gardens and grounds provide infinite opportunities for photographs and relaxation, all reserved entirely for your gathering of friends and family.

History

Dating back to the early 1300s, the manor house has many a story to tell. Its rooms and halls are filled with period features and ornate ceilings, all resting upon medieval foundations.

Over the years, Brinsop has homed many noble families and celebrities. William Wordsworth, known for launching the Romantic Age in English literature; Madeleine Carroll, the highest-earning 1940s English actress of her time; and Stephen Hawking, the theoretical physicist, have all enjoyed this magnificent estate.

Things to do

The hamlet of Brinsop is located just six miles northwest of the riverside city of Hereford, known for its beautiful cathedral and array of breweries. To the west, you’ll find the Welsh Borderlands and Marches.

The area is littered with a fascinating history. Black and white villages adorned with signature oak-beamed houses wait around each bend, such as Weobley, Pembridge, Eardisland, Eardisley and Almeley. Not forgetting the market towns of Leominster, Kington and Presteigne.

Hergest Ridge and Offa’s Dyke offer unmissable, panoramic views. Or visit Hay-on-Wye annual festival and reach the gateway of the Breacon Beacons and the Black Mountains.

‘If you’re looking for the perfect wedding venue, you’ve found it here.’

“Choosing your wedding venue is no small feat, but once we viewed Brinsop there was no question, it just had to be here. There are so many things that we could praise about Brinsop; the house, the knot barn, the surroundings, the list goes on. But one thing that stood out for us and the one thing you must know, is that the staff are the backbone of this venue and without them our day could not have been possible.”

‘Perfect in every way’

“Thank you for facilitating a fabulous stay.  It was a perfect size for the 33 of us, and we were able to use every location to good effect.  The decorations were fabulous, and the banqueting hall was breath-taking!  Please give our special thanks to our coordinator and Jonathan for being so responsive when we were there.”
