17th November marks 40 days until wedding season. That might seem odd to hear as winter approaches but let us explain!
27th December, that’s the date that wedding venues start to see a sudden climb in enquiries. Newly engaged couples eagerly trawl google looking for their dream venue, downloading brochures and excitedly shortlisting their favourites.
THIS IS WHEN “WEDDING SEASON” BEGINS…
Enquiries flood in faster than fingers can click reply and the viewing diary steadily fills. Those wanting a summer Saturday in the next 18-20 months or so (the average length of engagement) quickly realise that it’s a race to secure the perfect date.
“18-20 MONTHS IS THE AVERAGE LENGTH OF AN ENGAGEMENT”
Then New Year’s Eve arrives. The promise of a new year makes 31st December the most popular date of the entire year to get engaged. This year, a new decade will encourage even more proposals and by 2nd January, the inbox will be going crazy!
“By the end of January all Saturdays and a good deal of Fridays between April and November the following year will be booked”
For obvious reasons, the summer months are favoured by couples in the UK. With the rise in outdoor wedding ceremonies in picturesque locations over the last few years, summer weekends fill up fast and by the end of January all Saturdays and a good deal of Fridays between April and November the following year will be booked or be provisionally holding.
In Herefordshire, wedding venues have seen a sharp rise in midweek weddings as a result, especially Mondays and Thursdays that can easily be tagged onto a weekend, while being more available and easier on the wedding budget.
So, if you’re already engaged but haven’t quite got around to booking your venue, now is a good time to give it some thought, before the newly engaged provide new competition for your dream date!
