As summer comes to an end and autumn approaches, our thoughts at Brinsop are very much of the foodie variety. There are so many fantastic food events in September and October all within striking distance of Brinsop Court Estate and I wanted to showcase some of them.
Chronologically then, this weekend is the Ludlow Food Festival celebrating 18 years of “glorious Marches food” with an A–Z list of exhibitors that will surely please the most discerning foodie! Incidentally, the A is Aardvark Books and the Z is Zoe Corney Ceramics so it isn’t all just about food.
Next on the podium comes the Abergavenny Food Festival – a two day extravaganza on 15th and 16th September. With over 200 ‘hand-picked’ exhibitors there are also talks, walks, pop up restaurants, master classes and a party at the castle….. race you to the bar! Oh and if you are in the market for a new job they are looking for a part time Chief Exec, closing date for applications is 23rd September.
Hot on the heels of the Abergavenny Food Festival, is the Eye Bread Festival held for one day only on Saturday, 22nd September – this captivating specialist event is of course all about bread and there is free entry for all those who bring a home-made loaf with them… and of course if you are staying at Brinsop, bread made in the Aga is very special.
Warming to my theme and on the subject of food, the Ludlow Pudding Experience is held monthly and the Wednesday, 26th September event could be next on your list of gastronomic delights.
Even the Malvern 3 Counties Showground is getting in on the act, with their Autumn Show on 29th and 30th September. Billed as a true celebration of food, the countryside, gardening and nostalgia, the event hosts a range of cookery demonstrations, gardening talks, vegetable displays, vintage tractors, crafts and more. So there you have it. But of course all of these are temporary and if you come here at other times of the year, there may not be a food festival to enjoy. So, look out for another post featuring some of the great restaurants within a 20 mile radius of Brinsop Court Estate.
I should finish by thanking Visit Herefordshire for the inspiration for the title of this blog post as it is what they call their food festival taking place the last weekend of October in and around Hereford City Centre…. perhaps we will see you there?
