Brinsop Court is a manor house wedding venue in Herefordshire, offering couples an exquisite backdrop for unforgettable manor house weddings. You’ll have exclusive use of the entire 800-acre estate, including the 14th Century Manor House wrapped by water, our picturesque grounds, farmhouse cottages and traditional barn, The Knot.

Getting Ready

Retreat with a close friend, put your feet up in front of the wood-burning fire and unwind in the hot tub with a glass of something bubbly. Located just a short walk from the house, our Ivy & Wood Cottages are the ideal place to spend the night before your big day.

For your partner, our Butterfly Suite is reserved exclusively which includes access to our hot tub, tennis courts and snooker room.

The next morning, awake feeling refreshed as the rest of your bridal party arrive at the cottage.

Once ready, head to the house for those all-important final wedding preparations in our beautiful bridal suite, The French Room.

Whether a blessing or civil ceremony, you have the choice to take your vows amongst an array of locations.

Within the Court, the Elizabethan Library, Queen Anne Dining Room and Medieval Banqueting Hall bring a touch of regal sophistication. In the grounds, The Knot Barn has verdant views across the hills.

If the weather is on your side, our Ancient Courtyard, Wordsworth Lawn, Astley Pergola and sun-dappled Woodland are truly magical spots.

The nearby Brinsop Church, St George’s, is also less than five minutes away.

Connected by a scenic boardwalk to the manor house and complete with excellent facilities, The Knot Barn ensures your reception is both memorable and effortlessly enjoyable for you and your guests. Set within it’s own gardens for lawn games, outside tables and chairs, fire pits, and an outside bar and pizza oven it effortlessly switches from day to evening party time in style.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are we able to just hold our wedding reception at Brinsop?

This is entirely up to you! With our One-Day Package you can use Brinsop for your whole day or just a part of it.

Do you allow dry hire?

Unfortunately not. We have excellent bar facilities both at the Main House and The Knot and can work with you if you have any special requirements. We are unable to allow guests to bring any alcohol onsite.

How many guests can we have for our wedding day?

We can accommodate weddings here at Brinsop from 10 to 180 Day Guests! We can also accommodate up to 250 people for your evening party at The Knot with the addition of a marquee.

Can we get ready on-site when booking a one-night wedding?

Definitely – our couples have access to French and Butterfly Bedrooms from 11am on the morning of the wedding. You can also book our on-site Cottages for your use the night before your wedding, meaning you can start your preparations there, as early as you like, before travelling the short distance to the house.

Do we have to book the registrar separately?

Yes, it is a legal requirement that you contact the Registrar separately, unfortunately we can’t do this for you.

Can I bring my own wedding decorations?

Yes, of course you can! You are welcome to personalise and decorate the various rooms and areas of Brinsop Court to suit your chosen style.

Are meals included in our wedding packages?

Our simple Recovery Breakfast is included in the wedding packages for overnight guests. A delicious Arrival Supper is also included for a two-night wedding.

What time do we need to finish our celebrations at night?

Live music and/or DJ are both welcome to play in The Knot or Games Room until midnight.

Do you recommend wedding suppliers, such as a photographer, florist and hair stylist?

Whilst we don’t have these in-house, we have loads of our favourite local suppliers who we love to work with! Please see our recommended suppliers.

Where does my wedding car access the venue?

You can be driven right up to the beautiful, historic main doors of Brinsop Court.

Are there any limitations with decorating for my wedding?

We have put hooks for decorations in appropriate places to ease the set-up process. Please be aware that as this is a listed building – we cannot allow the use of anything to affix decorations to the walls and beams. If in doubt, please ask us and we will be happy to help find a solution for you.

Do I need to take all my decorations back home with me?

We ask that you remove everything prior to departure and do not leave us to dispose of your unwanted items.

Do you allow candles and tea lights?

Yes, but please note that the banqueting hall and knot barn is the only locations where candles are permitted.

Are we allowed confetti?

Yes, although we ask that the confetti is either natural petals or bio-degradable. Sorry, no confetti canons.

Are tables and chairs included in the venue hire price?

Use of our tables and chairs is included in the venue charge.

What are the options for music during the ceremony and wedding breakfast?

We can provide a portable bluetooth/aux speaker for you to plug your device into, which can be moved around the house. We also have a specifically designed audio visual system in The Knot.

Should we pre-book taxis?

As we are located in a rural area, we highly recommend pre-booking a taxi for the end of the night. There are plenty of companies in Hereford who will drop off and pick up from Brinsop Court Estate.

Do you allow fireworks?

Yes, but we need to know ASAP to alert residents nearby. Please note that fireworks must be used by 10pm and sourced through our sole supplier. Please see details on our suppliers list. We also allow sparklers outside.

Do you have parking?

There is unlimited parking during your stay at Brinsop! All house guests should follow the directional signs for “Overnight Guests” and park at Bailey Car Park. All other guests should park in the Main Car Park.

Do you have electric charging points?

Yes! There is electric charging points for cars located next to The Knot. We ask that guests take their vehicles of charge as soon as the charging session is complete.

Do you allow smoking?

Smoking and vaping is only permitted outside.

Do you have a cake stand and cake knife?

Yes, we have a log cake stand, which is 16- 17” in diameter, and a silver knife. Please remember to add this to your wedding information planning document and include information regarding the tiers you would like cut/saved.

Do you have laundry services?

The property is equipped with complimentary washing and drying machines and washing powder is available. We also have irons and ironing boards in each utility room.

Do I need to bring ancillary items such as washing up liquid, loo rolls etc?

No. We provide loo rolls, washing up liquid, dishwasher tabs, washing powder, tea towels, refuse sacks, and where applicable, kindling and firewood.

What about bed linen?

We provide 100% Egyptian cotton bed linen, towels and bathrobes.

What outdoor games do you have?

We have a selection including Croquet, Cricket and Rounders. Please let your coordinator know if you would like to use these. You can also go fishing in the moat, and we have a tennis court on-site and provide rackets and balls too.

What are the check-in and check-out times for guests?

A one-night wedding stays have access to French and Butterfly bedrooms from 11am on your wedding day. Your house guests and day guests are then able to arrive from 1pm. Our bar can be open from 12 noon, on request in the games room, serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. For two-night weddings, you have access to the entire Brinsop House and The Knot barn from 3pm the day before the wedding. Check out is at 10am.

How do we book accommodation?

Please visit our accommodation portal. Our couples have their own unique booking code to distribute to the guests they choose to stay here at Brinsop.

When is glamping available at Brinsop?

Glamping is seasonal and available from Mid April through to October.

Do you take cash or card?

We are a cashless venue. Please make sure to let your guests know to bring card.

Do you have accessible facilities?

Brinsop has an accessible ground floor super king bedroom, Hawkins, and a wet room. Bedrooms suitable for those with limited mobility – all on ground level. We can provide ramps for all stepped areas throughout the ground floor area meaning all 4 wings are accessible for most disabilities. Please note that our Library and Banqueting Hall are on the first floor. A lift is unavailable due to the building’s historic age and listed status.

How much are extra beds and sofa beds?

Our extra beds are £75 per bed, per person. This covers housekeeping linen change and breakfast on departure day.

Can I bring my dog?

Absolutely! We welcome all (preferably well-behaved) dogs. They’ll love lounging in front of the Aga. We can even provide a dog sitter should you request one for the duration of your stay.
