Alys & Aidan

October

Thank you all so much for a weekend we won’t ever forget!

A Q&A WITH THE COUPLE

When and how did you first meet?

5 and a half years ago, Alys’ friends stole her phone and uploaded Tinder as she had moved down to England for her post-graduate Master’s degree and was one of the few single girls in her class. Her friends found Aidan’s profile and after an exchange of cheesy chat-up lines, decided that we should meet in person. We and have never wanted to be apart since.

How long did it take you to plan your Wedding?

Due to the pandemic, there was a long time to plan and look through Pinterest! Once we were allowed to have the numbers we wanted for the wedding, we could start seriously planning. In total about 18 months.

Who popped the big question/ how did they propose?

Aidan popped the big question on-top of a beautiful waterfall in Wales. We had to cancel our trip to Italy because of the pandemic and wanted to have one last hike together (something we love to do). Best day ever! We got to celebrate it together and a year and a half later with our families once restrictions were lifted.

What was your favourite part about your big day?

There were so many fantastic parts! We were lucky enough to stay there for the evening before and having our closest friends and family with us was so special. We loved everything! From getting ready in the morning with our bridesmaids and groomsmen to walking down to the pavilion with a piper, to the canapes and dancing in the courtyard to the amazing food and dancing the night away in the Barn!!

What would you do differently about your Wedding?

STRESS LESS!! I was so worried about thinking about the details and looking after our guests but actually didn’t need to because Brinsop had everything organised and even the little things thought about!

Why did you pick Brinsop for your big day?

We loved the homely and enchanting feel to the house and grounds. The staff were exceptional with their communication throughout the whole process which was so reassuring. We loved the idea of having our closest friends and family staying their (especially as the bride’s family and bridesmaids were travelling from Scotland to celebrate) and the food options were amazing. We loved the cosy fireplaces and firepits and how relaxed the vibe was. Brinsop certainly did not disappoint!.

Ceremony

Alys and Aidan’s Ceremony was located in one of outdoor locations, Astley Pergola. With just over 70 guests, they had the perfect numbers for this location. They incorporated Persian rugs and blankets to add a homely but rustic theme which went beautifully with their floral arrangements, which they used as the central focus point. Despite their Wedding day being in October, the Pergola worked fantastically due to its overhead cover and the use of fur blankets to keep their guests cosy!

Drinks Reception

During their drinks reception, which was located in both the Courtyard and Bailey Wing, Alys and her bridesmaids had some group shots at the front of the house! Their guests enjoyed sitting by the fires in Bailey Parlour, as well as enjoying the outside space whilst being served Canapes and Cider. Drinks Receptions, are the ideal time to get in some formal or group shots- as your guests are usually preoccupied with food and drink!

Wedding Breakfast

Alys and Aidan held their wedding breakfast in the Banqueting Hall and continued their rustic and cosy theme with the use of warm lighting and similar floral arrangements throughout. They also decided to tie in their Scottish traditions by having a Piper lead them and their guests into the room!

The Party

Like most, Alys and Aidan hosted their evening party in the Knot Barn. They also continued the Scottish traditions throughout their day by incorporating a Ceilidh into their evening party! Not only is this a great way to get people onto the dance floor but it often gets everyone smiling! Alys and Aidan also had evening guests and so it was a great way to welcome them. To finish of the night, pulled pork rolls were served and sparklers were lit at midnight!
